The group considered the possiblity of setting the DC average pass rate of the last three years (60%) as an achieveable minimum while the three year national average of 70% to be the ideal target.

Official GED Test
Scores for each of the five tests on the GED Exam are reported separately on a standard scale ranging from 200 (the lowest) to 800 (the highest). To earn a GED credential in the District of Columbia, each examinee must meet a minimum standard score of 410 on each of the five tests in the battery and a total standard score of 2250 points. GED tested subjects are Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies.(Ryan) (Information from the DC GED Testing Center)

PASS RATES
The official pass rates reported by GED Testing Services is the number of Test Passers divided by the number of Test Completers. See below:

GED Test completers—Candidates who have tested in all five content areas of the GED Test, regardless of whether they met the GED Test passing standard. The number of completers serves as the denominator for calculating the pass rate. A candidate must have completed all five content areas and met the minimum passing standard in order to be considered a passer. In this report, the term completers is used
interchangeably with GED Test completers.
GED Test passers—Completers who have met their jurisdiction’s minimum passing standard (see Appendix A for detailed score requirements). The number of adults who met the passing standard serves as the numerator for calculating the pass rate. Some jurisdictions require adults to fulfill additional requirements beyond passing the GED Test in order to receive a GED credential (see Appendix A). In this report, the terms passers is used interchangeably with GED Test passers.
